Armed robber arrested in Las VegasAt around 10:30 P.M. on November 13th, Las Vegas authorities were alerted to an ongoing situation at a Summerlin casino. Police rushed out to the 200 block of Rampart Boulevard and quickly secured the scene.

Metropolitan Police Detectives began to investigate what happened and learned that a suspect had robbed the casino at gunpoint. Witnesses say the suspect was dressed suspiciously. He was wearing a black face mask, a blue and yellow security jacket, and a ballistic helmet.

Detectives pulled security footage of the incident and discovered that the male also entered the casino through the same parking garage. Due to the suspect’s clothing and helmet, identifying them has been a challenge. Authorities have released a video to the public. Anyone who has any information about the incident or who can identify the suspect can contact the Metro robbery department at 702-828-3591. You can also always anonymously report information about criminal activity to the Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

Security experts confirmed that the casino employee followed all the appropriate steps to de-escalate the situation. De-escalation is critical in these situations because it can save lives, especially in casinos and other public businesses.

Rather than focusing on protecting assets, it’s better to pay attention to the suspect’s appearance and movements according to authorities. These key signs can help the police later identify the culprit.

Armed Robbery: A Class B Felony in Las Vegas

Armed robbery is taken extremely seriously in Las Vegas. This is especially true when the target is a casino because the city needs to protect these important businesses. Suspects accused of armed robbery will get charged with a class B felony.

This offense carries a penalty of anywhere from two to 15 years in prison, but it can lead to even more serious penalties when a deadly weapon is used. The use of a firearm could upgrade the potential penalties anywhere from one to 15 additional years. That means a convicted armed robber could potentially face a maximum sentence of 30 years behind bars.

On top of these penalties, a felony conviction could carry permanent consequences, especially if you used a firearm. A felony conviction may mean you permanently lose the right to possess firearms. Convicted felonies also cannot vote until they complete their sentence. Other permanent consequences include difficulties obtaining employment and housing in the future.

The only way to prevent these consequences and penalties is to avoid a felony conviction. Here at LV Criminal Defense, our team specializes in helping our clients defend themselves, reduce their criminal charges, and secure the most favorable legal outcome possible in their situation.
