According to police, Reyes Rojas had served as a director and coach for a Las Vegas youth soccer organization, where he was involved in local youth sports activities before his arrest.
Officers believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward because of Reyes Rojas’s ties to youth sports programs in the valley, investigators said. Detectives continue to ask for the public’s help as the investigation remains active.
Police charged Reyes Rojas with three counts of sexual assault against a child under the age of 16, one count of child abuse or neglect, and one count of kidnapping a minor, court records show.
In a statement following the arrest, the Nevada Youth Soccer Association confirmed that Reyes Rojas has been suspended indefinitely from all youth soccer activities. The organization said he was removed from his coaching and administrative roles after authorities became aware of the criminal charges.
A separate post on social media from the nonprofit Las Vegas Diversity FC indicated that Reyes Rojas “stepped down from his roles as Director and Coach due to personal reasons,” though the club’s statement did not directly address the allegations.
Detectives with Metro’s Sex Offender Apprehension Unit located Reyes Rojas earlier this month and took him into custody. Police are urging anyone who may have information about this case to contact the Sexual Assault Detail at 702-828-3421. Individuals wishing to provide information anonymously can call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or submit tips online.
In Nevada, crimes involving the sexual assault of a minor are prosecuted with considerable severity due to the age of alleged victims and the vulnerability associated with such cases. Charges that include sexual assault against a child under 16, child abuse or neglect, and kidnapping a minor can each carry significant prison sentences, steep fines, and long-term consequences upon conviction.
The specific penalties depend on the nature of the charges, the age of the victim, and any aggravating factors present in the case. Allegations of sexual assault against a child often result in charges classified as Category A or B felonies, which can lead to lengthy prison terms and mandatory registration as a sex offender.
A conviction for these types of offenses can also affect an individual’s employment opportunities, civil rights, and ability to live or work near schools or youth-serving organizations. Because of the severe consequences and complexity of defending against such charges, individuals accused of child-related sex offenses need to seek qualified legal counsel early in the process.
