When police interviewed the teenager, she admitted to being in the relationship. She told authorities that the couple would message each other on TikTok. She claimed they’d hang out during lunch at school and after school. He also drove her home on most days.
Police were waiting at the school’s staff parking lot on Monday morning when Bushey arrived. Upon questioning, he immediately admitted to being in a romantic relationship with the minor. He alleged that he believed the teenager’s parents knew and gave him permission to drive her home from school.
He is currently being charged with six felony counts for engaging in sexual conduct with a student and another felony count of contacting a minor for sex as a person of authority. Bushey’s trial date is set for March 26.
Considering Bushey has worked as a teacher for years and has strong ties to the local youth, detectives are concerned that there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward with their stories.
