Floyd Mayweather Sr., the father of boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., was acquitted of a misdemeanor battery charge following a bench trial in Las Vegas. The case stemmed from a September 2017 incident after a boxing match at T-Mobile Arena, where a woman alleged that Mayweather Sr. pulled her from his vehicle, struck her in the leg, and left her on the side of the road. The woman claimed to have been treated at a hospital for bruises resulting from the altercation. However, Mayweather Sr.’s attorney contended that the allegations were fabricated and intended to extort money from his client. After several hours of testimony, Justice of the Peace Harmony Letizia delivered a not guilty verdict, concluding that the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
