Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said this week that they have no sexual assault reports on file against actor and musician Jared Leto in their jurisdiction.
The confirmation came after a BBC documentary titled “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret” named Las Vegas as the setting of an alleged 2002 incident.
In the film, a woman using the name Isabel says she was 17 at the time and claims Leto assaulted her at a motel. Four women overall make accusations covering the years 2002 to 2016.
When the Review-Journal asked about the claims, Metro Police responded that no sexual assault reports had been filed against Leto in their jurisdiction.
Leto, 54, denied the accusations through his representatives. He said he has never sexually assaulted anyone and that the claims are “absolutely and categorically false.”
Leto has performed in Las Vegas several times with his band Thirty Seconds to Mars, including shows connected to the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the When We Were Young festival. He was also among the celebrities at Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium.
When claims appear in the media years after the alleged events, police departments check whether anyone ever filed a formal report in their area. In this instance, Metro found none. Without a complaint, an investigation, or charges, the matter stays outside the criminal courts.
