When facts and evidence in a criminal case are slim, your legal representation matters. The right lawyer can cast doubt on any existing evidence and raise further questions about whether or not someone else might be the person responsible for the crime.
Having an aggressive and knowledgeable criminal defense attorney is paramount to keeping you from facing the most severe penalties afforded under the law, which are pretty substantial for charges like armed robbery.
In Las Vegas, armed robbery is considered a serious category B felony. If convicted, then you could face prison time of anywhere from two to 15 years. When a deadly weapon like a gun or knife is used then you will automatically face enhanced penalties. This might include more prison time anywhere from one to 20 years. On top of facing prison time, you might also be expected to pay significant fines and restitution to the victims.
When determining your overall sentence, the judge will also look at other factors, like any past criminal convictions, the severity of your robbery, the level of violence or threatening used against the victim, and the overall impact of the crime on the victim.
A felony conviction will also lead to lifelong consequences, like the loss of your right to vote or possess firearms.
Did you know that individuals who report solid information to Crime Stoppers can get a cash reward if the person they accuse ultimately goes to jail? This monetary incentive should make anyone question the validity of the statements made to a Crime Stopper representative. If you get arrested based on a tip provided by a Crime Stopper informant, then hiring an attorney can help you ensure that the jury considers that fact.
