The event happened around 11:40 a.m. near East Sahara Avenue and North Nellis Boulevard, close to a Smith’s grocery store and a Bank of America branch.

How it all unrolled

Officers arrived at the scene and took the suspect into custody. They used an electronic control device, often called a Taser, to safely stop him. Police quickly described the situation as under control, with no injuries reported to first responders.

The shopping center area was closed off with crime scene tape while investigators worked.
