Henderson Police Officer Indicted in Alleged Military Equipment Theft Scheme

The indictment was unsealed on September 8 and lists officer Conrad Lillegard along with Alexander Rubey, Marcus Hollmann, Scott Martin and Alex Pelc.

Prosecutors say the group took night vision goggles and other military items, removed or altered identifying marks, and sold them to private buyers, describing the sales as camera equipment on online payment systems. 

Details of the Alleged Scheme

Court records show that on September 5, 2024, Rubey and Hollmann broke into a National Guard armory in Selmer, Tennessee, and took more than $285,000 in military gear. The next day Rubey allegedly sent a package addressed to Lillegard in Henderson.

Rubey and Hollmann also face a separate federal charge linked to the alleged theft of goggles from a United States Army installation in Hawaii in 2022.

During a traffic stop on November 3, 2024, outside a National Guard armory in Lexington, Tennessee, police found Rubey carrying the goggles that were allegedly taken in Hawaii, according to the documents.

Scope of the Allegations

Investigators say the alleged activity ran from January 2022 through August 2026. The stolen goggles were moved to Nevada, Arkansas and Michigan, the filings state.

If questions came up from buyers or law enforcement, the group planned to say the items were government surplus or leftover contract stock, according to the indictment.

Lillegard joined the Henderson Police Department on December 23, 2015. A department spokesperson said he is currently on unpaid leave. Court records show he was released from custody. His next court date is set for September 28 in Jackson, Tennessee.
