The FBI investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Afroza Yeasmin handled the prosecution as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national effort aimed at stopping the sexual exploitation of children.
Milton was already on federal supervision because of an earlier conviction for coercion and enticement of a minor. While he was under that supervision, investigators found more than 10 images and videos of child sexual abuse material on his digital devices.
According to the Department of Justice, the material showed prepubescent minors.
The Sentence and Official Response
Along with the prison term, Milton will have to register as a sex offender and pay restitution to victims. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah said the sentence shows how seriously these crimes are taken and why it is important to keep repeat offenders away from the community.
How the Case Fits Into Broader Efforts
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice program that focuses on cases involving the sexual exploitation of children. Many of these cases start with tips, digital investigations, or close monitoring of people who are already under court supervision.
