Hostage held in Las VegasThe Las Vegas community is dismayed after a recent tragedy has left one resident fatally shot after a police interaction. According to initial reports, The Las Vegas Police Department was originally called out to a household at around 12:21 PM on November 4th after reports of gunfire were received by the agency.

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities recognized the ongoing situation and quickly set up a containment area around the household. They discovered one man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, who was reported deceased at the scene.

Cabrera Hernandez, the 49-year-old suspect, allegedly shot the victim right before authorities arrived, and police quickly learned that the suspect had a hostage with them. At that point, SWAT units were called out. At that time, Hernandez attempted to flee into a vehicle, but SWAT team members blocked the vehicle.

Another SWAT team member attempted to free the hostage. One bullet was fired, and it happened to strike Hernandez in the driver’s seat. The gunshot wound later proved fatal, but the hostage was unharmed and freed.
